Conwy - low ropes

All of the children took part in the low ropes class. Everyone helped each other and ended by seining across the big rope swing into the cargo net. Even Mr Bullen had a go!! High ropes next...

Conwy - A big thank you!!

All of year 3 and 4 want to say a big thank you to all the staff who came and helped on their residential. Thank you to the Conwy Centre staff for teaching us and keeping us safe. Thank you to Mrs Webb, Mr Grinyer, Mrs Taylor, Mrs Bond and Miss Barlow for all your hard work and super effort. The children had a great time and enjoyed themselves.

Conwy - High ropes!

IWow!! They were high!!  Again, ALL the children made a supe effort and made it up to the start of the high ropes. Most children went across the lower beam (still about 4 metres from the floor) and nearly half the group went to the higher beam (approx 15 metres high!). The photos below show a child walking across the beam - bare in mind the top of the ladder on the left is 3 metres off the floor!!  The children climbed the ladder and then up the rungs on the tree!!  Well done everyone...

Conwy - Time for the high ropes!!

Year 4 are now kitting up with harnesses to go and use the high ropes. Everyone is looking forward to trying some new equipment.

Conwy Residential - Day 3

After a good nights sleep and a hearty breakfast, year 4 headed out to the low ropes and high ropes. The challenge for the children was to move AS A TEAM around the course! All the children completed the course and again, worked well as a group.

After a brilliant time abseiling, the children had some lunch and set up camp. We undertook some bushcraft activities and lit a campfire. The children also practiced using a strike and rod to create some small sparks. To round the session off we are some toasted marshmallows round the campfire.

Conwy Residential - Day 2

Wow!! What a super day. The sun shone and everyone had a great time!  Year 4 worked really hard and enjoyed a canoe down the Menai. They worked so hard and worked so well as a team that they managed to get an abseil in during lunch!  ALL of the year 4 children walked to the top of the tower and ALL of the children abseiled down!!  Well done to everyone!! More pics to follow...

Fab work based on The Day The Crayons Quit

As a whole school, we have been looking at a book called The Day The Crayons Quit.  The children then wrote some persuasive letters, pretending to be Duncan and trying to persuade the crayons to come back to work!  See the pictures below for some super examples of what the children in year 4 produced.  Keep up the hard work team!

The Return of The Iron Man

Wow!! Year 4 have been working really hard in our art and DT lessons and have used junk modelling to create our own Iron Man. The iron giant also has quotes from the text stuck over him. Well done team!

Fantastic newspaper introductions

Well done to all in Year 4!  I am really impressed with your newspaper introductions and I think that you have all included information on the 5ws that we spoke about.  You have also all worked hard on 'hooking' the reader.  Next up is gathering quotes!

The Return of The Iron Man...

The Iron Man has returned.

And his right foot, his enormous iron right foot, lifted - up, out into space, and the Iron Man stepped forward, off the cliff, into nothingness.
CRRRAAAASSSSSSH!
Down the cliff the Iron Man came toppling, head over heels.
CRASH!
CRASH!
CRASH!
From rock to rock, snag to snag, tumbling slowly. And as he crashed and crashed and crashed.
His iron legs fell off.
His iron arms broke off, and the hands broke off the arms.
His great iron ears fell off and his eyes fell out.
His great iron head fell off.
All the separate pieces tumbled, scattered, crashing, bumping, clanging, down on to the rocky beach far below.
A few rocks tumbled with him.
Then
Silence.

(The Iron Man, Ted Hughes)
